Chronic illness solved differently.
If you've been struggling with chronic symptoms and told that everything looks "normal," you're not alone.
For many people, the biggest frustration isn't just feeling sick—it's never understanding why. My approach is about looking deeper, connecting the dots, and exploring the factors that may have been overlooked.
In this short video, I'll explain how I work, what you can expect from working together, and whether my approach is the right fit for your health journey.
Stories of Hope.

MEET DARRELL
For more than 28 years, Darrell Becker has dedicated his life to helping people better understand their health.
His journey began in Vermont, where he trained extensively under Dr. Richard Warmann, developing a systems-based approach that looks beyond symptoms to uncover the patterns that may be contributing to chronic illness. That mentorship continues today, with Darrell returning each year for advanced clinical training.
Darrell earned his Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and became a licensed acupuncturist in Hawaii after years of formal education in Traditional Chinese Medicine, anatomy, physiology, herbology, and Western medical sciences. He later served as a professor at the Hawaii College of Oriental Medicine, teaching both acupuncture and Western medical sciences to future practitioners.
Throughout his career, Darrell has continued to study nutrition, herbal medicine, functional assessment, lifestyle medicine, and complementary healing disciplines. His philosophy is simple: the body functions as an interconnected system, and lasting wellness often begins by understanding the root contributors to illness—not simply managing symptoms.
Today, Darrell works with clients throughout Hawaii and across the country, providing personalized consultations that help people better understand their health, make informed decisions, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
I help people better understand their health.
Most of my clients have already seen multiple doctors, practitioners, or specialists. They’ve often spent years searching for answers, collecting diagnoses, trying treatments, and still wondering why they aren’t getting the results they hoped for.
My role isn’t to replace your existing healthcare team. It’s to help you step back, see the bigger picture, connect the dots, and develop a thoughtful strategy for moving forward.
Think of me as the person helping to coordinate the entire journey rather than focusing on just one piece of it.
-
No.
Nearly all of my consulting is done remotely by secure video call.
You stay where you are, and together we build a plan that works with the practitioners, resources, and opportunities available near you.
-
No.
I don’t replace your physician or other healthcare professionals.
Instead, I help you make better use of the healthcare resources already available to you while identifying areas that may deserve additional attention or investigation.
-
Most healthcare professionals are trained to work within a particular specialty.
My job is different.
I spend my time looking at how all of those pieces fit together.
Symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Diet, sleep, stress, movement, medications, past illnesses, emotional patterns, relationships, environment, and daily habits often interact in ways that are difficult to appreciate during a brief office visit.
Our work is to understand those relationships and build a practical plan around them.
-
We begin by understanding your story.
We review your health history, your current challenges, previous treatments, laboratory findings when available, and your goals.
From there we develop a roadmap.
As we work together, we evaluate what’s helping, what isn’t, when to stay the course, and when to change direction.
The plan evolves as new information becomes available.
-
Often, yes.
If your situation would benefit from additional expertise, I’ll help you determine what type of practitioner may be appropriate.
I can also help you think through questions to ask, how to evaluate recommendations, and how to make informed decisions rather than simply accepting or rejecting advice.
-
Yes.
Many of my clients live on the mainland and in other locations far from Hawaii.
Because my work is consultation-based, geography is rarely a limitation.
-
Every situation is different.
Many clients find that approximately one hour each month provides enough time to review progress, adjust the plan, and stay accountable.
Some situations require more frequent contact, particularly in the beginning.
-
Most of the people who contact me have chronic or complex health concerns that haven’t been adequately explained or resolved.
Rather than focusing on one diagnosis, I focus on understanding the individual sitting in front of me.
Every person arrives with a different story, and every plan is customized accordingly.
-
I’ll offer recommendations based on my experience and the information available, but this is always a collaborative process.
The goal isn’t to create dependence on me.
The goal is to help you understand your own health well enough to make increasingly confident decisions over time.
-
No.
No ethical healthcare professional can promise specific outcomes.
What I can promise is thoughtful analysis, careful attention, honest communication, and a commitment to helping you make the best decisions possible with the information we have.
-
Because information alone rarely changes lives.
Most people already know they should sleep better, eat better, move more, or reduce stress.
Real change happens when someone helps you consistently apply good decisions over time and adjusts the plan when necessary.
That’s a significant part of the value I provide.
-
Probably, if you:
Have been searching for answers without finding satisfying explanations.
Are willing to participate actively in your own recovery.
Value thoughtful guidance over quick fixes.
Want someone who can help coordinate the bigger picture of your health.
This may not be the right fit if you’re looking for someone to simply tell you what pill, supplement, or treatment to take while expecting everything else to remain the same.
-
The best place to begin is with a Discovery Call.
We’ll discuss your situation, your goals, and whether I believe I’m the right person to help.
If I don’t think I’m the best fit, I’ll tell you honestly.
-
“You probably should keep seeing them. Most healthcare professionals are experts in one part of the puzzle. My role is different. I help you understand how the pieces fit together, coordinate the people involved in your care, and help you make informed decisions about the overall direction of your health.”
